The 1900's

1901 - The first trans-Atlantic signal was transmitted by Marconi across the Atlantic from England to Newfoundland.

1915 - The first trans-Continental line from New York to San Francisco is opened.

1919 - Bell Systems announces its plans to introduce dial telephone.

1927 - A public demonstration of TV by wire from Washington, D.C. to Bell Telephone Labs in New York City was done.

1931 - AT&T introduces the teletypewriter service.

1936 - The first coaxial cable was installed between New York and Philidelphia for a multi-channel telephone test.

1937 - The combined handset telephone was introduced.
